On April 7 2011, Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein Peter Harry Carstensen visited the international operating business of mechanical engineering M. Jürgensen GmbH & Co KG in Sörup. Minister-President Carstensen was glad to see the commitment to the region and the preservation of jobs.

Dr. Georg Jürgensen, Chairman, and Andreas Willim, CEO, explained during the factory tour the production process of the owner-operated specialised company to Minister-President Carstensen, the president of the rural district Eckhard Schröder, Dr. Klaus Matthiesen, CEO of the WiREG and Sörup’s mayor Friedrich Martens – from the foundry to the dispatch of the ready-to-build-in products. Carstensen was most impressed about the casting process. “M. Jürgensen proves, that a business based in a rural region can be successful as a world market leader and create jobs”, said the Minister-President respectful. Finally, Minister-President Carstensen could impress the enthusiastic sailor Andreas Willim with the special sailor’s knot.
